Aged care physiotherapy in Sydney

Getting an older parent to a clinic is often the hardest part. Alera Healthcare physiotherapists come to them: at home, in a retirement village or in residential aged care across Sydney, with an aged care focus since 2011.

Quick answers

What is aged care physio?
Aged care physiotherapy is physio for older people, delivered where they live: at home, in a retirement village or in residential aged care. Alera Healthcare physiotherapists assess mobility, strength, balance and pain, then treat and set exercises for daily life. Exercise physiology is also available.
Who can refer to aged care physio?
Families can book directly. Care managers, Support at Home providers, residential aged care staff, GPs and discharge planners can refer through the referrals page or by phoning 040 55 77 555.
How is aged care physio funded?
Support at Home, when a registered provider arranges it. Alera Healthcare is an associated provider, not a registered Support at Home provider. DVA: Gold card holders where there is an assessed clinical need, White card holders for accepted conditions, with a referral (dva.gov.au). Private payment: the fee is confirmed on a 15-minute call, and every visit has an itemised invoice. Alera does not offer NDIS services, and does not accept Medicare or GP care plan referrals.
Where do you visit?
Australia wide, with a focus on Sydney and Sydney Metro. Hubs on the locations page include Parramatta, Liverpool and Hornsby. If a suburb is not listed, confirm it on a 15-minute call.
How do I start?
Book a 15-minute call on the bookings page, or phone 040 55 77 555. We aim to respond within one working day. The call is planning only, not a treatment session.

Frequently asked questions

Do you provide physiotherapy in residential aged care in Sydney?
Yes. Alera Healthcare physiotherapists visit older people in residential aged care, retirement villages and their own homes across Sydney. Facility staff or families can arrange a visit on a 15-minute call.
What does an aged care physio visit cover?
Mobility, strength, balance, pain and getting in and out of bed or a chair. The physio assesses the person where they live, treats, and sets exercises that suit their routine and the people who help them.
Do you run falls risk and balance programs in aged care?
Yes. A physiotherapist can assess balance and falls risk and set up a strength and balance program. We do not promise that falls will be prevented.
Is aged care physio covered by Support at Home?
Physiotherapy is a clinical support under Support at Home, with a 0% participant contribution from 1 November 2025, drawn from your budget (health.gov.au). Your registered provider arranges it, and Alera delivers it as an associated provider. We are not a registered provider.
Can a care manager or GP refer a client?
Yes. Use the referrals page or phone 040 55 77 555. We respond within one working day.
Do you offer exercise physiology for older people as well?
Yes. ESSA-accredited exercise physiologists provide graded exercise for long-term conditions and healthy ageing. We do not offer occupational therapy or NDIS services.
