Physio at home across Sydney's North Shore

Yes. Alera Healthcare physiotherapists visit homes across Sydney's North Shore, from Roseville and Lindfield up the Pacific Highway to Wahroonga, and across the Lower North Shore. You can enquire online or call, with no GP referral needed. Visits run 45 to 60 minutes and the same physio returns wherever possible. Book a 15-minute call to check your street.

Upper North Shore: along the Pacific Highway and the train line

The railway and the Pacific Highway share one spine from Roseville up through Lindfield, Killara and Gordon, then on to Pymble, Turramurra, Warrawee and Wahroonga. Station villages sit on that line: older houses on leafy side streets, and newer apartments a short walk from the platforms. Normanhurst, in Hornsby Shire, is on the Northern Line.

Roseville is the closest of these station suburbs to the hospitals at St Leonards: physio at home in Roseville.

Home physio in Lindfield covers the village on both sides of the station, plus the bushland streets of East Lindfield that fall towards Middle Harbour.

Physio visits in Killara take in Stanhope Road's retirement communities and the large gardens either side of the highway, including the western streets that drop towards the bush.

Gordon is the civic centre of Ku-ring-gai, with the council chambers, the library and apartments beside the station: physio at home in Gordon.

Upper North Shore: off the train line

St Ives and St Ives Chase run along Mona Vale Road, with no station of their own. St Ives Chase backs onto Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, and East Lindfield falls towards Garigal National Park. West Pymble and South Turramurra sit off the line as well, with bigger blocks, long driveways and bushland edges. North Turramurra, where Lady Davidson Private Hospital is, is part of that landscape.

For St Ives and St Ives Chase, see home physio visits in St Ives.

Home visits suit people in these suburbs who no longer drive, because getting to a clinic from here is a bus ride or a car trip.

Coming home from a North Shore hospital

People come home to these suburbs from Sydney Adventist Hospital in Wahroonga, from Royal North Shore Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital in St Leonards, from Lady Davidson Private Hospital in North Turramurra after rehabilitation, from Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital in Hornsby, and from Mater Hospital North Sydney. None of these hospitals is connected to Alera.

If you are coming home from Sydney Adventist Hospital or Royal North Shore after surgery or a fall, you can enquire online or call 040 55 77 555 for a home visit. Bring your discharge notes to the first visit. Related reading: hip replacement at home, knee replacement at home, and the first month after hospital.

Lower North Shore

Lower North Shore suburbs on our list include Mosman, Neutral Bay, Cremorne, Kirribilli, Kurraba Point, Northbridge, Castlecrag, Castle Cove, Hunters Hill, Lane Cove, Greenwich, Longueville, Riverview, Chatswood, Willoughby, Wollstonecraft, Waverton and Cammeray.

Waverton's harbourside streets drop steeply towards Berrys Bay and Balls Head, with stairs between streets and a lot of apartment living. A home visit there can include practising the stairs and slopes you actually use.

Cammeray mixes apartments and older homes near the Cammeray Golf Course and Tunks Park. Visits suit people who find the trip across the Warringah Freeway to a clinic hard work.

What a North Shore home visit looks like

A lot of North Shore houses are older: front steps, a split level, a garden that falls away from the verandah. The physio works on the steps, the bathroom and the chair you use every day, rather than on a generic exercise sheet.

For apartments near Lindfield, Gordon, Pymble or Chatswood stations, the useful practice is often the lift, the corridor, and the move between a basement car space and the front door.
