Physio at home in Killara

Yes. Alera Healthcare visits houses, apartments and retirement community units in Killara, on both sides of the Pacific Highway. Each physiotherapy or exercise physiology visit runs 45 to 60 minutes, which leaves time to work on the stairs, bathroom and garden path you actually use. No GP referral is needed. Book a 15-minute call.

Stanhope Road and the east side

Stanhope Road cuts through Killara's east side. Lourdes Retirement Village is on that road, and so are several over-55s apartment complexes. Swain Gardens is a council garden on Stanhope Road. If a gentle walk there is one of your goals, the physio can work towards it with you.

A bus runs along part of Stanhope Road to Lindfield station. If reaching the bus stop is the goal, the physio can practise the kerbs and slopes on the way there. Inside a retirement community, the session happens in the resident's own unit, and only where that community lets visiting health practitioners in.

West of the highway: big gardens and bushland

West of the Pacific Highway the blocks are larger: older houses, long gardens, and driveways that slope. Killara Golf Club sits on the highway itself. Fiddens Wharf Road continues down to Lane Cove National Park. Houses on that western side often have a long driveway and steps down into the garden, which is exactly the ground a home visit can use. Say which side of the highway you are on, and whether the session is in a house, a villa or a unit, when you enquire.

What fits in a 45 to 60 minute Killara visit

Killara homes are often large, with more than one level and a long path out to the street. An unhurried 45 to 60 minutes is what makes a proper look possible: how you move through the house, time on the internal stairs or in the bathroom, and exercises written for the room you will actually do them in. Goals can include stairs between levels, getting in and out of a deep bath or a low car, and the walk to the letterbox.

A plain-language overview is what physio at home involves.

After inpatient rehab at Lady Davidson

Lady Davidson Private Hospital, at North Turramurra, provides inpatient and day rehabilitation. Royal North Shore Hospital is at St Leonards. Neither hospital is connected to Alera.

Finished a rehab stay at Lady Davidson? Bring your discharge summary and exercise sheets, and the physio will build the home program from those notes. You or your family can enquire online or call 040 55 77 555. For the first weeks at home, see the first month home from hospital.

Exercise physiology at home

In Killara, exercise physiology is often strength, balance and bone health set up with what is already in the house, for example when osteoporosis is part of the picture. Home exercise physiology does not replace medical care for osteoporosis. See exercise physiology at home and exercise physiology for osteoporosis. Physiotherapy remains the service for recovery, pain, balance and mobility: physiotherapy at home.

Frequently asked questions

Do you visit homes in Killara?
Yes. We visit houses, apartments and retirement community units across Killara, east and west of the Pacific Highway. Book a 15-minute call to check a time for your street.
How long does a home physio visit in Killara take?
Each visit runs 45 to 60 minutes. That is long enough to check how you are moving, practise the stairs or bathroom you use every day and leave you with exercises that fit your room.
I live in a retirement community on Stanhope Road. Can the physio come to my unit?
Yes, where the community allows visiting health practitioners. The physio sees you in your own unit and follows any sign-in steps. Tell us the name of the community when you enquire.
Can the physio help me get to the bus stop again?
If that is your goal, yes. The physio can practise the walk with you, including kerbs, slopes and steps, and set exercises to build the strength and balance it needs.
I have finished inpatient rehab at Lady Davidson. Can home physio start in Killara?
Yes. You or your family can enquire online or call 040 55 77 555, with no GP referral needed. Bring your discharge summary and exercise sheets, and the physio will plan your home program from there.
Is exercise physiology available at home in Killara?
Yes. An exercise physiologist can visit for strength, balance and bone health programs, for example with osteoporosis, set up with what you already have at home.
